Would you like a room with that view?
The island of St. Lucia is the ultimate when it comes to breathtaking scenery and tropical romance. Sip
cocktails in your private, cliffside hot tub, overlooking the Caribbean Sea and magnificent lush green mountains. Enjoy delectable island fare. Pamper yourself amidst the tropical rainforest. Surround yourself with extreme beauty. Relax to the utmost in what will seem like your own personal island hideaway.
The island of St. Lucia offers a plethora of activities to spice up your vacation.
Some options to consider are:
* Scuba diving Anse La Raye is known as one of the finest wall and drift dives in St. Lucia. Divers from all over the world know the exotic beauty and warm crystal waters well, and a great deal of care has been exercised to ensure that Anse La Raye, as well as the surrounding water, remains as prisitine as it was a generation ago when it first began attracting divers in search of a paradise less traveled. St. Lucia's Anse La Raye offers huge gorgonians, black coral trees, gigantic barrel sponges, purple vase sponges and lace coral, as well as angelfish, black beauties, golden spotted eels, seahorses, stingrays, nurse sharks, turtles and more. A few submerged shipwrecks and a mysterious serpentine creature of mythical proportions known as "the thing" add to the excitement of diving in these beautiful waters.
* Rejuvenate your mind and soul by soaking in the hot springs of La Soufriere, the world's only "drive-in" volcano. What this actually means in practical terms is that you can drive up to the dorman Qualibou volcano and visit the sulphur springs which inspired the French name Soufriere, which still issues steam and other signs of geothermal life after its last eruptions in 1979. The well-established health giving properties of volcanic minerals draw many visitors, soaking themselves in hot springs and mud baths hotter than the average bath. You won't be able to stand the heat for long, or the sulphuric smell, but your skin will thank you after a quick dip.
* Hike through the luscious St. Lucia rainforest to waterfalls, see the rare St. Lucian parrot, and find
stunning rainforest vegetation. Or, if you are feeling more adventurous, view the rainforest from above on a tranopy tour- an aerial tram, canopy zine line and Jacquot trail hike from Rainforest Adventures St. Lucia. This new adventure allows you to experience the thrill of zip lining in St. Lucia without missing out on the rainforest's rich wildlife. The innovative Tranopy tour combines the up-close views of an aerial tram with the excitement of a canopy zip line tour. A professional naturalist guide will accompany you along the rainforest trails, pointin out some of the secrets of the rainforest which surrounds you.
* Hop aboard a boat and sail off to the nearby island of Martinique for the day. Martinique is the definition of a refined French-Caribbean island- fashionable and elegant with an abundance of flora and filled with ruins and monuments. Martinique has been French, with few interruptions, since 1635 and offers gorgeous beaches, great food and a live volcano. Banana farming, cane raising, the rum business and tourism are all important to the island as well- and it shows! Martinique is filled with shops, restaurants, nightlife and unique opportunities available only in Martinique. Return on a sunset sail of the Caribbean Sea while enjoying champagne and hors d'oeuvres.
